It's cultural origin spawn inClassical Antiquity by being portrayed in Greece and Rome's mythology. As an example of this,kidnapping is an action they repeat numerously throughout myths and that had great importancein Greek and Latin society, fact that can be noted by its influence in bridal rites as well as in therelation that is stablished between kidnapping and death. As a result, myths act as the conductingand normalizing agent of these violent behaviours. Lastly, this kidnapping tradition is not onlypresent in classical societies but also in different cultures around the world, siding in form andpurpose.
