AB The municipality of Valle Gran Rey does not have a General DevelopmentPlan approved, as the 1989 Subsidiary Regulations are still in force, whichdo not meet the requirements of the current regulations. It is necessary topromote the approval of the Plan to achieve the development of themunicipality, but to do so, it is necessary to face the complex procedure ofelaboration and approval -although simpler than the one that was in force in1989- of this urban planning instrument, regulated in “Ley 4/2017 del Sueloy de los Espacios Naturales Protegidos de Canarias”. This need is justified inthat the predominant activity in the municipality is tourism, and that,paradoxically, the Subsidiary Rules do not regulate land for tourist use. Inaddition, there are numerous problems when implementing newinfrastructures, since there is no regulation that includes them, and, therefore,that declares the action in accordance with the town planning regulations ofthe municipality. The approval of the General Development Plan wouldmean a radical economic and social change for the town and for theinhabitants and tourists who would benefit from all the advantages that itimplies, that is why this study will detail the procedure to follow to achievethis objective.
