When there is some type of alteration in the functioning of these channels, diseases known as "channelopathies" can be caused, including neurological diseases such as epilepsy. Due to the role played by ion channels in the development of this type of pathology, they are today the main biological and therapeutic target of the antiepileptic drugs. However, these drugs are still insufficient to treat the disease, since there is a high number of people with resistance to their action. Therefore, it is important to search for new effective therapeutic alternatives to obtain better results in all known types of epileptic crisis.
