Many of them are used in traditional medicine to treat several therapeutic activities, including depression, anxiety and insomnia. Pathologies whose prevalence has increased in recent years. For this reason, it is necessary to analyse the phytotherapy activity and the use of Canary Island endemic plants useful in these pathologies. To this end, a bibliographical review of the endemic species was carried out and they were classified according to their therapeutic activity. Articles were searched on different electronic databases, libraries and virtual journals, and 16 endemic species were selected from the bibliographic review. The compositional analysis and pharmacological assays of some endemic species have been studied in order to determine which compounds are responsible for the activity attributed to them; of these, 8 species contain phytochemical compounds responsible for antidepressant, anxiolytic and hypnotic activity. This shows that it is important to continue to make progress in traditional medicine and to study endemic canary island plants and their therapeutic activities in greater depth.
