AB The aim of this work is to define the responses offered by urban planning law to adapt the GeneralPlan to the emergence of new social, environmental, territorial, urban or economic needs.It will be carried out through the comparison of both consolidated texts, the Law of 1976 and thenew Law 4/2017 of the Soil and Protected Natural Areas of the Canary Islands, which approves theRegulation of the planning used for the Canary Islands.The General Plan is the central object of the work, for this reason, its definition and characteristicswill be mentioned. Several points relating to the meaning of the necessities that have arisen, andwhich are urgent and the answers to these problems will be discussed below.This analysis is determined by excessive rigor and its legislative treatment to relax itsdeterminations to adjust it to reality.
