AB This end-of-degree project aims to analyze the evolution of corporalpunishment throughout the legal history of Spain. The objective is to seehow society has evolved, so does the law that surrounds it, especially insomething as important as criminal law.Punishment is the fundamental pillar on which criminal law isdeveloped and its application has varied greatly over time. The purposesand the ways of carrying them out have seen many modifications thatwere almost always coupled with the development of society. One of thefirst ways to apply these punishments was through corporalpunishment, punishments that directly affected the body of a person andcould reach death. This type of punishment evolved until it disappearedand this is the idea that underpins the analysis throughout the history ofSpain.Beginning with the time prior to codification, from which the firstcriminal texts are preserved, continuing with the codification andcreation of the first penal codes in Spain and ending with the analysis ofthe current criminal legislation.
