AB The objective of this work is the investigation of the relationship between PublicInternational Law and sports. In the first place, an analysis of the legalinternational institution of States, its elements and the figure of the recognition ofStates is carried out. As a link between the States and football, the fit of FIFA in thePublic International Law´s institutions is studied, as well as the degree of proximitybetween the sports federations belonging to said organization and their respectivenational governments.For the purposes of a better investigation, two situations are exemplified, such asthose of the Republic of Kosovo and Western Sahara, which present, for practicalpurposes, legal-international singularities that are useful to obtain an answer tothe question raised in the title of the article work: Are football and PublicInternational Law worlds apart?
