AB Benefits for a dependent child constitute in Spain the only benefit of a monetary,periodic and direct nature that is granted at the state level to contribute to theexpenses generated by the upbringing and education of the children.This makes this benefit one of the only useful tools within the family protectionsystem for the fight against the social exclusion of families and their vulnerability,a situation that after the serious crises that our country has gone through, andespecially the incidence of Covid-19 that has agravated social differences.In this work, the benefit granted in Spain is analyzed, in which a normative tour ofwhat the benefit had been until the entry of the Minimum Vital Income, as itcurrently is and what it will be from now on, is also carried out. It refers to the mostcritical aspects of the benefit from its conception and after the entry of the IMV.
