AB This project revolves around the figure of women in ancient Rome, both from a synchronicand diachronic analysis, focusing on three different aspects, but at the same time veryrelated to each other: marriage, motherhood and prostitution.The woman's mission was to marry in order to procreate children. In the event that shecould not have them, it became necessary to divorce or resort to alternative methods thattoday we can call surrogate motherhood; in the event that she did not marry, the womanwas refused to live in concubinage or be considered a prostitute. In any of the status inwhich women found themselves, it played a significant role in the history of the same,since, despite being subordinate to men and being a civilization with firm patriarchalstructures, the Roman woman was not a "defenseless creature" and without legal rights,compared to other ancient civilizations.
