What happens to our relation withlanguage or a community? This paper explores recent poetic investigationsinto the relation between the material world of the everyday and theineffable. Taking as example, the analytic lyric of Rae Armantrout andFanny Howe, it examines how their work may be read through the socialand spiritual philosophies of Simone Weil.
