Considering the definitions provided by LornaHardwick (2003), it will be proposed a reading of David Stuttard’s play as an adaptation ratherthan a new version. In addition, the article will focus on the female characters in Stuttard’splay, as well as on the means used by the author to achieve the humorous aspect that charac-terises the play.
