AB This study is a text analysis of Muriel Spark's The Ballad of PeckhamRye. It focuses on the use the author makes of two different text types: theballad and the novel and their corresponding types of language andstructures. The essay attempts to show how a highly complex set of linguisticresources are combined and activated by the author to obtain the greatestinformativity at the lowest narrative expense.
