AB This paper analyzes the most important aspects of Terry Southern'sliterary work. Overlooked by the majority of critics, Southern's career is amajor contribution to contemporary American literature as representative ofwhat is called "Black Humor" and, also, "New Journalism". Through hisnovels, articles and screenplays he has been able to shock the Americanpublic thanks to an intelligent mixture of sex, chaos, humor and absurdsituations and characters.
