AB Grimus (1975) is Salman Rushdie's first published novel. A very cleverbook, it combines myth and allegory, unreality and satire, delicacy andnaturalism, logic and nonsense... Inscribed as Utopian science-fiction, it canbe considered a ludicrous and witty mental game, whose language is afireworks of puns, anagrams, acrostics, parodies and ambiguity. All theseelements are analysed in detail, together with some other formal devicesand the mental processes of its recreation.
