AB The idea of lordship in don Juan Manuel cannot be other than aristocratic, this is evidencedin an enormous number of studies that have been dedicated to him in one way or another.However, in some of them it can be noticed that justice occupies a central place in thedevelopment of his thinking. In this paper, we address, starting from the problem of justice,a conceptual development that, going through punishment and free will, recognizes inthe judiciary the capacity to distribute resources, benefits, and penalties in a feudal logic.In Manueline stately thought, justice, power, and knowledge are tied together to displacediscourses without seeming subversive of tradition. Under traditional clothing, he hidesa criticism on the power of a king that he wished concentrate the power of the kingdom.
