AB This article is an approach to the livestock farming activities in the domain of Escornalbou(Catalonia, in the Baix Camp shire and municipality of Riudecanyes) during the latemedieval centuries. After recounting the few known history and particularities of theAugustinian canons of the barony of Escornalbou, the lords of the place, the main featuresof the livestock explotation are narrated: The protections granted by the emprius (rights ofuse), the vicinity of the city of Tarragona, credits to the livestock purchasing operations, andthe animal custody and care infrastructures as well. Animals present in the documents arealso explained and the characteristics of their explotation. The canons of Escornalbou didnot have a particular interest in the livestock economy, but their barony’s men consideredit a serious business to be exploited with the only limit of their financial capacities.
