AB The medieval authors who are the subject of our study, Odon de Cheriton and John Shep-pey, have common notes: they both compose their fables in prose, belong to Anglo-Saxonculture of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries, exercise their magisterium in the Chruch anduse and adapt the fabulistic genre to criticize the vices and defects of the time, especiallythose committed within the Church.
