AB Many of the private dwellings and urban buildings in the city of Oviedo at the end of theMiddle Ages, in the hands of the cathedral chapter, were in a very defective situation, notto say ruinous, as was the case with some public buildings, abandoned to their fate despitebeing symbols of the royal city, such as the Cimadevilla Tower. In this study we aim to showthe most significant aspects of Oviedo’s buildings to understand how the public authoritiesand urban elites tackled the construction problem and tried to solve the structural decayof their urban buildings.
