RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 La novela universitaria: foro de teorías sobre la ficción y de ficcionalización de teorías A1 Concha, Ángeles de la AB Malcolm Bradbury and David Lodge, both professors ofLiterature, novelists and literary critics, have chosen the campusnovel as a medium to explore the possibilities of coexistence ofrealism and fictiveness. Their first hand knowledge of the socialmilieu together with a fine ear for the absurdities and pretensions ofthe critical modes they analyse provide a sweeping satire of theintellectual and social atmosphere created by anxious universityteachers in desperate need to keep up or eager for promotion. Themost relevant feature of their fiction is the attempt to incorporateelements taken to be an ultimate challenge to realism and showingthem in a symbiotic relationship. Literariness, parody, pastiche, genre self-questioning, and what has come to be known asfictionality are some of the most obvious devices at play in the taskof making the novel a mode of formal and imaginative experimentwhile laughing at the excesses under way.
