AB In this article we reconsider the adaptation of Macbeth by SirWilliam D'Avenant and follow the transformations of theSakespearean Macbeth through the neoclassic period. With thatpurpose we examine the views offered by not only well knowncritics and writers, but also by other not so well known spectatorsor readers. We believe that the study of Shakespearean adaptationsand transformations offers a unique opportunity to trace thedevelopment of theatrical taste and the changes of literarystandards of criticism.
