AB A foreign worker may work in Spain as an employee or selfemployed person, provided that he or she has one of the administrativeauthorisations provided for in Spanish law. However, there are manysituations that do not fall under the general regime, in which workersfind themselves in an irregular administrative situation, mainly due tolack of authorisation or its expiry. In these cases, regularisationdepends on the so-called extraordinary regularisation processes, aswell as on the application of employment roots, which can be social,family and employment-based. The latter is a fundamental instrumentin the regularisation and integration of foreign workers in our country.
