AB This work reflects the figure of the protective action of social security regulatedin the General Law of Social Security, Spanish constitution, and other laws,related regulations. Beginning with a historical analysis of the figure of workand the causes of the emergence of protection against contingencies, up to ourcurrent legislation. To then move on to a more exhaustive analysis of the figureitself, its elements, as well as the extensions and limitations made by the lawitself, highlighting the presumption of employment.Social security also acts as a protective action in the social protection rights offoreign workers who reside and work in a country other than their country oforigin. Finally, a very current topic is reflected, such as the impact of COVID-19on Social Security and its action against it.
