This is known assuccession. Succession can be inter vivos, which refers to the transferof a legal situation from one person to another while both are alive, ormortis causa, which refers to the attribution of a position or legalsituation of a deceased person to another or others who succeed them.The latter is the one that concerns us. In Spain, the law of succession ispart of Private Law that deals with the distribution of ownership andthe financial relationships of individuals after their death. It isregulated in the Civil Code of 1889, which has undergone some changesin certain articles related to the title of succession over the years.
