AB Criminal Law’s actual interest in medical science is mainly based in its mostrecent developments, in the fields of genetics, artificial intelligence, orneuroscience, for instance. However, the relationship between these twosubjects isn’t something new, it began long ago, when Medicine firstappeared.This research study invites us to explore the history of the relationshipbetween Medicine and Criminal Law, offering a historical-legal analysis ofthe regulation, throughout the centuries, of criminal medical responsibility inthe Spanish legal system. On the one hand, Statutory Law will be analyzed.On the other hand, the different procedures that are now followed to assessmedical negligence. A general view of today’s regulation is offered bystudying the reasons that have prompted the great changes of this legal figuresince the beginning of humanity.
