AB The migration of plastics and its impact on pollution has become a growing concern inrecent decades. Phthalates are a class of chemical compounds commonly used asplasticizers in a wide range of consumer products. However, their widespread use hasled to a significant presence of these compounds in the environment and raises seriousconcerns for human health and the ecosystem as a whole.In this study, a validation and application of an analytical procedure for the analysis ofphthalates in different infant food products have been carried out using the QuEChERSmethod as an extraction and cleanup procedure, and gas chromatography (GC) coupledto tandem mass spectrometry as separation and determination techniques.The samples evaluated, including various brands of fruit purees and baby food, wereobtained from different supermarkets in the Tenerife Island with the aim of assessing thepopulation's exposure to these compounds using the described methodology.
