All the objects and facts described by the narratorare important signs within the thematic fabric of the tale. Theanalysis covers the following elements: nature, Gawain'sloneliness, the time of year, the date of departure, the significanceof the land of Virral, the passing through Holy Head, the grove ofoaks, the hawthorn, the hazel and finally the castle itself. Nothinghas been omitted, pertaining to Gawain's journey, without thenecessary analysis. The final conclusion is that the reader isinduced to feel uneasy when the castle appears unexpectedly, afeeling fully confirmed during the final meeting of Gawain with theGreen knight.
