AB Revenge is a major theme in Elizabethan tragedy. Shakespeare dealswith it in Titus Andronicus. This paper tries to find out its maincharacteristics and the reason why this topic is chosen. The Senecantradition and the Shakespearean audience are two important aspects to beexamined in order to have a better understanding of the play. The use ofmeaningless bloody scenes has an existential connotation. To live maybecome a tragic nonsense. The study of the psychology of the characterscould be the other clue to know the muffled purpose of vengeance.
