AB This paper offers an overall study of Tom Raworth (b. 1938), one ofEngland's most attractive and, at the same time, neglected poets. After alengthy introduction which makes reference to the hostility towardsinnovation inside the British poetry scene as well as to the modernist andpostmodernist foundations of Raworth's art, both his poetry and prose —upto the publication of Tottering State (1984), his latest volume— are analysedwith some care.
