This initiative was part of the mult iregionalEuropean project "More E,qual" (lgualdader), affiliated with theEqual Community lnitiative. financed by the European Social Fund. ltconsisted of a series of workshops on basic computer skills, Internetnavigation, and the use of photos and images aimed at women agedbetween 50 and 65 years, belongin,g to eight rural municipalities in theRegion of Catalonia MontsiĆ”. This study established that the digital divideis not only linked to a difference in the technological equipment or accessto broadband. lnstead, the main barrier that separates potential usersof the network is general knowledge, basic English, and familiarity withhardware. These wor kshops showed that learning to use technologythrough cultural components, rhythms, and motives, actually helped thelearning process.
