This articleanalyzes the evolution of the DRAE diatopic labelling system, as well as the most importantnovelties that have been introduced in recent years with the purpose of eliminating from thedictionary the hierarchy that some of these geolectal labels presented with respect to the European standard. The polycentric and multinormative character of the dictionary, promotedby the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language, has meant a significant change inthis type of labelling and, above all, the search for a consensus that highlights the differentidentities under equal conditions.
