AB The work focuses on the ballast water treatment system of the ship "Juan J. Sister",with the purpose of facilitating officers and crew with tasks related to the maintenance,understanding and use of the system.The technical characteristics of the ship are described, its adherence to the BWMSconvention for international operations, and highlights the use of the "sequential method" forballast water exchange, complying with the D-1 standard.DESMI's CompactClean-340 Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) ispresented, explaining its operation with mechanical filtration and UV lamps to comply withregulations. The location of the system, the structure and installation standards, as well ascharacteristics of the ballast tanks, are detailed. Detailed information is provided on operationalaspects, including automatic freshwater filling, ballasting and deballasting operations,highlighting the importance of flow regulation and UV dosing.The maintenance section describes scheduled activities, checking for leaks andcorrosion, annual external inspections, and specific actions for daily, weekly, monthly andannual maintenance.Finally, the responsibilities of the officer in charge of ballast water management arespecified, emphasizing the importance of keeping documentation up to date.
