AB Internet of things (IoT) is a key in the ecosystemcalled Industry 4.0, where the upcoming engineers will thrive.Therefore, it is important to develop the appropriate skills thatcurrent students need in such context. This paper will presentan educational platform focused on learning the Internet ofthings. This platform has the versatility to be used in differentcourses, in which digital technology or prototypes includingIoT are developed. Moreover, the platform allows experiencingdifferent learning spaces in a fast, efficient, and affordableway. The platform is called "IoT Maker Lab" and it has theminimum needed elements that an IoT application requires.Two kind of experimentations were developed with thisplatform, in the first ones the IoT was transversally added tothe course activities. In the second ones, the Internet of thingswas a fundamental part of prototypes that give a solution tocurrent problems. Analyzing the results from the experiments,it is clear that the "IoT Maker Lab" can be used in manymechatronics engineering courses. It can be used fromfreshman to senior in the undergraduate mechatronicsprogram. It can be implemented in systems that are eithersimple or complex. Additionally, the platform motivates andprovides knowledge to the students.
