Thisline of thought can be applied to the educational context. Inthis study we want to analyze what information on the profileof students can be inferred by analyzing their performance ineducational forums and if it is possible to classify them byapplying a taxonomy with a quantitative and qualitativeperspective of their social interaction. To achieve this, our methodology will be divided into twostages. The first stage consists of preprocessing, classifying andanalyzing the messages of the educational forum. In the secondstage, the analysis of the messages in the forums is combinedwith a taxonomy of five different student profiles. Theseprofiles were built according to two types of interactions (socialinteraction and interaction with content) with the onlineplatform from a quantitative perspective. However, this articleproposes to analyze the social interactions of the five proposedprofiles from a qualitative perspective. Our results validate the application of the ExtendedTaxonomy when qualitative and quantitative approaches areapplied.
