AB This paper aims to analyze the risk actionscarried out by children and teens in relation to what they postand share on social networking sites and instant messagingservices.The research was conducted in accordance with adescriptive and exploratory methodology, using a 39-itemquestionnaire with a Likert-type response scale. The studyanalyzes a wide range of actions carried out on mobile devicesby 856 children and teens aged between 9 and 17 years. Theresults reveal statistical differences in age and gender, withgirls engaging in more risk actions that do not involve anexpress desire to harm other people. Snapchat is the mostcommonly-used app for inappropriate actions linked to theposting of content online. In conclusion, educationalinterventions must be improved in order to increase children'ssafety and level of digital competence.
