K1 Cellular automaton K1 E-learning K1 gamification K1 microworlds K1 multicore programming K1 parallel programming AB Teaching of parallel programming toundergraduate computer science students can now beconsidered an inexcusable need. The current hardwareplatforms, which incorporate multiple cores and severalexecution threads, demand it. Notwithstanding the above, theteaching of parallelism through examples and classicalalgorithms, makes our students find it hard and complex. Onthe other hand, to teach through the techniques ofgamification, has already demonstrated in a reliable way apositive reinforcement of the student in front of the learning ofcomplex concepts. This work shows an experience developedby us to convey the teaching of parallelism to undergraduatestudents by gamification in microworlds. Results obtained bythe students who followed this model, compared to a controlgroup that followed the standard model, show a statisticallysignificant advantage in favor of the teaching of parallelism, using a gamification with microworlds model.
