AB This work describes the design andimplementation of a functional assistant system to supportinstructors to design or re-design the curriculum of theircourses. The system uses automatically generated ontologiesfrom textbooks that reflect the structure of a specific body ofknowledge. Twelve instructors participated in the generationof curricula for a programming fundamentals course, using theassistant system. An initial evaluation of this tool suggests thatthe system was successful in helping novel instructors with thedesign of a new curriculum.
