Specifically, meditation practices have been shown to affect the anterior cingulate cortex and insula, crucial areas for these cognitive processes. However, the field presents neuropsychological, methodological, and design gaps of knowledge, particularly concerning the structural connectivity and functional connectivity changes induced by meditation and its related practices.
