AB Inthis paper we study the meaning of some trees in the context of the milieu of the religious,artistic and iconographic thought of a Western Medieval person. As essential sources, wehave used biblical texts and some Mesopotamian, as well as apocryphal writings, noticesfrom the Fathers of the Church and stories from travellers and pilgrims. Particularly, westudy the Paradise trees and their relation to Christ’s Cross. We add to that some reflectionson the balm from the famous Balm Garden of Cairo.
