AB Historical research on Francoism period depends largely, amongst its main sources of information, in consulting the contemporary press of that time (1936-1975). Theuniversitary library of the Universidad de La Laguna (biblioteca de la Universidad de La Laguna), really aware of that reality, as owner of one of the richest historical press collections in the Canary Islands, had started since three years ago an active campaign in order to digitalize all this newspaper heritage not only for making easier its reading on the Internet but also to contribute, directly, to the preservation of those fragile collections published using paper, collections that will be moved away from the daily use of the readers in the Library.
