AB Documentary sources stand as oneof the most genuine attempts of medieval man to prevent forgetfulness and leave a record ofpresent facts as well as of future projections. This work examines the re-enactment of conceptssuch as time and memory in the documents contained in the CODEA+ 2015 corpus. Theanalysis has specially taken into account (1) the presence or absence of explicit dating (datachronica), (2) the semantic and referential range of the terms «time» and «memory», (3) thereplacement of the pragmatic context represented by «acts of possession» by the formulaicevidence pertaining administrative and notarial documents, and (4) the consequences forWestern culture of the yearning to leave a written trace of all those acts we carry out.
