AB In recent years, interest in the measurement of tourism at subnational levels has been growing steadily, as hasthe recognition that statistics at the national level are not sufficient to respond to the information needs tosupport the decision making process in the tourism sector. Information at subnational levels is not an option, itis a necessity. In an environment of increasing complexity, we are more and more dependent on this informationto understand the sector and overcome the challenges we face, especially in a sector as complex as this, whosemultidisciplinary nature makes this need for information even more acute, since without it the task ofunderstanding and managing the sector, as well as supporting the stakeholders so that tourism is the driver ofsocial and economic development, is practically impossible. In this context, the present paper has a doubleobjective. On the one hand, the analysis of the availability of information at the municipal level regardingemployment in the tourism sector. On the other, the collection and study of said information for an analysis thatreflects the reality of employment in the tourism sector in the municipalities of the Canary Islands, structured byislands and including sections dedicated to municipalities, providing context and individualized information.Given the space limits, the analysis cannot be included in its entirety in this document, so it is restricted to theanalysis of the island of Tenerife, including detailed sections for Adeje, Arona and Puerto de la Cru
