Despite its big impact on the patients’ livesand health professionals, there is a great ignorance in the health sector, there are nothomogeneous criteria to define and identify it. The lack of information and the complexity todetect it contribute to relate it with bad practice and negligent activities. All of that stimulatesthe non-communication of adverse events in the healthcare environment, because healthprofessionals feel afraid of the legal consequences. In order to improve this situation, clinicalsafety has been developed, which is an essential component to reduce the incidence ofadverse events. However, to get a real and effective change at a collective level, it isfundamental to have accessible and understandable information of iatrogenesis, furthermoredeveloping alternatives to reduce the problem. Therefore, the main objective of this work is todetermine what is iatrogenesis, and its bioethical and legal implications.
