AB People who suffer from a certain disease, disorder or a certain degree ofdependency find themselves in a situation in which they need to be cared for byrelatives. The number of informal caregivers of dependent persons, with chronicphysical illnesses or mental health problems has increased in recent years. Due to theincrease in the chronically ill or dependent, the economic difficulties, the advanced ageof the population and the decrease in mental health, the need to develop the figure of therole of caregiver has been generated. This circumstance directly affects the daily life ofthese individuals, affecting vital areas such as family life, work, leisure, social andemotional life, health and living standards. In different studies it has been found that thetasks of the caregiver are a potential source of chronic stress due to the circumstancessurrounding the caregiver and that are prolonged over time. Therefore, in this work areview of the articles published on the subject is carried out between 2001 and 2017, inGoogle Scholar, Psicodoc, ERIC and PubMed databases.
