K1 Sociología de la educación K1 América Latina AB We present here a swift analysis of the fight against the public and secular school, lead by members ofthe integralistic movement from New Jerusalem, in Turicato. A community shared by indigenous people andpeasants, that reject the western-shaped educational system, understanding that it is destructive for their ways ofcommunal living and worldview, quite different from those of the global industrial and urban culture.We think that the contents and evolution of a movement of this kind, can allow us to extract valuableconclusions about the effects that the 'modern', or western-shaped education, has on ancient and traditionalcultures. And about the way in which the School, or the present educational systems must change, alwaysoriented to a intercultural dialogue, to be fully compatible with the needs of our diverse human communities.
