Actitudes ante la muerte en Canarias: un estudio historiográfico

Abstract

La cuestión que vamos a estudiar, “las actitudes y comportamientos ante la muerte”, es ya bien conocida, pues se han publicado numerosos estudios que tienen esta temática como foco de interés y desde varias disciplinas historiográficas, sobre todo desde la historia de las mentalidades. Se trata de un tema muy estudiado tanto en Europa como en nuestro país, donde la elaboración de este tipo de trabajos se inició algo tardíamente, aunque con un considerable desarrollo. Así, lo que pretendemos con este trabajo es la realización de un análisis sobre cuál ha sido el panorama de estos estudios en Canarias; para lograr este objetivo hemos seleccionado los trabajos que nos han parecido más relevantes referidos a este tema, los cuales cronológicamente serían los relativos al siglo XVI y hasta aquellos que se han ocupado del siglo XX.

The question we will study, "attitudes and behaviors towards death", is well known, as numerous studies have been published with this issue as a focus of interest and from various historiographical disciplines, especially since the history of mentalities . This is a topic widely studied both in Europe and in our country, where the development of this type of work is something started late, although with considerable development. So, what we intend with this work is to carry out an analysis of what has been the scene of these studies in the Canary Islands; to achieve this goal we have selected works which seem to us most relevant related to this issue, which would be chronologically related to the sixteenth century to those who have occupied the twentieth century.
