La percepción y estigma de la sociedad canaria hacia la enfermedad del VIH/SIDA .

Abstract

El objetivo principal de esta investigación es conocer la percepción del VIH/SIDA en la SociedadCanariaen cuanto a los conocimientos, opiniones y estigma. Para ello se ha elaborado y difundido un cuestionario que ha recogido todos los aspectos nombrados anteriormente. La muestra está formada por 161 participantes de las Islas Canarias con edades comprendidas entre18 y65 años. En cuanto a los resultados, la mayoría de los/as participantes tiene conocimientos acerca del VIHy aunquea priori por las respuestas pueda parecer que no existiera el estigma hacia las personas que poseen la enfermedad, bien es cierto que en minoría sigue existiendo discriminación y rechazo pudiéndose notar si se analizan en profundidad las respuestas de los/las participantes.Esta investigacióntiene como finalidad recabar información acerca de los pensamientos que tiene la sociedad hacia la enfermedad del VIH/SIDA para intentar erradicar cualquier tipo de prejuicio o discriminación a las personas que tengan la enfermedad.

The main objective of this research is to know the perception of HIV / AIDS in the CanarianSociety in terms of knowledge, opinions and stigma. To this end, a questionnaire has been prepared and disseminated, which has included all the aspects mentioned above. The sample consists of 161 participants from the Canary Islands aged between 18 and 65years. Regarding the results, most of the participants have knowledge about HIV and although a priori it may seem that there is no stigma towards people who have the disease, it is true that in the minority there is still discrimination and rejection can be noted if the answers of the participants are analyzed in depth.The purpose of this research is to gather information about society's thoughts on HIV / AIDS in order to eradicate any type of prejudice or discrimination against people with the disease.
