| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | Historically women scientist have not been properly acknowledged for their work. This is the case of Nettie Maria Stevens, an extraordinary biologist who certainly made a substantial contribution to theoretical genetics. She published approximately forty scientific papers, and her greatest contribution to science was the demonstration that sex is determined by a particular chromosome. E. Wilson, the master cytologist at that time (1950), was doing research on the same topic. Although he is often credited with this discovery, the question of priority has been recently raised. However, from the study of the dates of the work, it is apparent that they both arrived at the same conclusions quite independently. | en |
