Carrera dual y deportistas de élite en Tenerife

Abstract

Este estudio tiene como objetivo el análisis descriptivo de los deportistas de élite no profesionales en Tenerife, que en sus trayectorias afrontan carreras duales (CD); situaciones que conllevan la necesidad de compaginar práctica deportiva y estudiar y/o trabajar; actividades que influyen en la inserción laboral del deportista y en el proceso de retirada y vida postretirada de la competición deportiva. Utilizando metodologías cuantitativa y cualitativa, se recopilaron datos aplicando un cuestionario y realizando entrevistas semiestructuradas. Observando referencias y factores de influencia, el análisis comparativo de los resultados ofreció similitudes y diferencias según sexos, destacando que las mujeres deportistas tienen niveles más altos de estudios terminados que los hombres, a la vez que han afrontado desigualdades en oportunidades y condiciones de carrera, tanto en ámbitos deportivos como laborales.

The objective of this study is to carry out a descriptive analysis of non-professional élite athletes in Tenerife who, in their trajectories, face dual careers (CD); situations that imply the need to reconcile practicing sports and studying and/or working; activities that have an impact on the employability of athletes and on the process of retiring from sports competition and life after retiring from it. Using quantitative and qualitative methodologies, data were collected through a questionnaire and by conducting semi-structured interviews. Noting references and influence factors, the comparative analysis of the results showed gender-based similarities and differences, highlighting that female athletes have completed studies of higher education levels than men, as well as faced unequal opportunities and conditions in their careers, both in the sports field and in the workplace
