Retórica y métrica en la lexicografía académica

Abstract

Estudiamos la aparición en los diccionarios de la Real Academia de palabras notadas como pertenecientes a la retórica. Algunas, muchas, ya están en el Diccionario de Autoridades, procedentes, la mayoría, de Covarrubias; otras han entrado en época reciente, como lítotes (1984) o sinestesia (1992). En la edición de 1884 se produce una gran introducción de términos retóricos, ello se debe tanto a la publicación de diccionarios importantes —Salvat, Domínguez, Terreros— como a la presencia de Menéndez Pelayo en la Real Academia. También estudiamos los cambios en las definiciones, los retoricismos de vida efímera, y las anotaciones sobre métrica en el diccionario académico, que curiosamente son muy pocas.

We study those entries that are annotated as belonging to the field of rhetorical terminology in the Real Academia Española dictionaries. Some of them, it could be claimed that many of them, are already present in the Diccionario de Autoridades, the majority taken from Covarrubias. Many others have appeared more recently, such as lítotes (1984) or sisnestesia (1992). The 1884 edition includes a large number of rhetorical terms for the first time, due to the publication of some important dictionaries —Salvat, Domínguez, Terreros— and the presence of Menéndez Pelayo in the RAE. We also study the changes in the definitions of the terms, the rhetoric terms of short life-span, and the annotations about metrics in the dictionary of the Royal Academy, which, curiously enough, are just a few.
