Abstract

Buero Vallejo aborda un tema que, hoy en día, sigue vigente: la justificación o no del terrorismo. En este artículo mostramos cómo el autor cambia algunos de sus planteamientos cuando escribe teatro ya sin la censura. En primer lugar, comparamos la fragilidad de Jueces en la noche frente a La Fundación, obra representada en 1974. A pesar de que hay sólo seis años de diferencia entre una y otra, La Fundación es una obra en la que Buero Vallejo se sirve de su capacidad artística para evitar los recortes de la censura, sin perjudicar su intención crítica. Jueces en la noche es presentada más directamente, con total ausencia de dialéctica. La segunda parte del artículo rescata la recepción de la obra en el momento de su estreno. La mayoría de las críticas coincide en la falta de objetividad del autor a la hora de tratar el tema terrorista.

Buero Vallejo deals with a theme that today is in force: the justification or not of terrorism. In this article we show how the author changes some of his points of view when writing drama without censorship. At the beginning, we compare the fragility of Jueces en la noche against La Fundación, performed in 1974. Even though there is only six years between them, La Fundación is a play where Buero Vallejo uses his artistic capacity to avoid censorship without damaging his critical intention. Jueces en la noche is performed more directly, without dialectics. The second part of the article pays attention to the reception of the play when it was performed for the first time. Most of the critics coincide in the loss of objetivity of the author when writing on the theme of terrorism.
